Users are the people who have access to the system, and are associated to a particular company.
To administer Users.
Activate Administration mode using [+/-]
(Covered in Administration Overview)
Click the blue “Users” Button on the row that the current company appears on. You should now see a list of users associated with the company. Users can be edited and deleted using the orange and red buttons on the same row as the users name. New users can be added using the green “Add User” button at the top of the list.
Click the green “Add User” Button, you will now see the Add User dialog.
Fill in the details, a Username, Password, Firstname and Lastname are required. While an email is not required it is reccommended so that the user can recieve comments and request a new password.
There is a check box “Send Login details to user” if this is checked the users login detials will be emailed to them, if the password is not specified a random password is generated and sent.
Designlink does not keep passwords on the server, only an encrypted version of the password. There is no way to retrieve a password from the system.
A new user defaults to Active but you can make them Inactive from the pulldown list if you want to set someone up and activate their account at a later date. At the bottom of the Add user dialog is a list of all groups, tick the check boxes of the groups you want the user to be added to. When complete click the “Save” button, then “Confirm” the details are correct.
If you want the new user to be able to Administer the site you can select “yes” from the Administrator menu. (NOTE: BE CAREFUL WHO YOU LET ADMINISTER THE SITE)
To Edit a user click the orange “Edit” button on the same row as the user and change the fields as needed, checking or unchecking groups as required. When complete click the “Save” button, then “Confirm” the details are correct.
To Delete a user click the red “Delete” button on the same row as the user. Note that deleting a user deletes all the comments the user has made and CONNOT BE UNDONE! so use with caution. We would reccommend Editing the user and making them “Inactive” using the pulldown menu, this prevents the user logging in and recieving comments but keeps the comments they have made.
